The Landscape of Love

Our love listens to the sighs of wind,
Stirring lightly out our window.
Ever so slightly as the churlish sun
Raises an eyelid over dawn’s drawn line.

Across the country acre of our bed,
The backlit clouds round your face
To reveal a golden-hued eternity
That stills my peregrine heart.

Rosy clouds of cirrus
Break through the streaky stratus
At your temples building billowing cumulus
Over the piled pillows of this heaven.

Out on Folly’s Ledge the surging tide
Makes ever smaller islands
For us to curl into one another
In the sleepy country of our soul.

Winding through this wild heartland
The renewing tide runs up the bay
While our twin figures cast our future
Into hidden pools of delight.
