PAIRINGS is a museum quality collection of 20 of my photographs, paired with 20 of Philip Conkling’s evocative poems, which spans the entirety of our working life together, since founding Island Institute in 1983.

This portfolio was produced in a limited edition of 35, plus five artists’ proofs. The 20 paired images and poems, all in individual folios, are contained in an exquisite handcrafted linen-bound museum box.  This presentation allows the collector to easily access and enjoy the pairings in an elegant manner while also making possible the disbursement of the individual twenty folios as gifts or for other purposes.

My 13 x 19 inch prints are hand printed, titled, numbered and signed by me on gorgeous, 100 percent cotton sheets. Philip’s poems, all hand signed, are printed on a 13 x 19 inch sheet at a highly acclaimed letterpress studio, and the deeply textured effect lends itself beautifully to the overall depth and beauty of the set.  The overall presentation is, if immodestly, stunning.

Matted Sets

We are also now offering individual “pairs” in two different sizes. All of the pairs in the portfolio itself are now available as matted, ready to frame pieces; the paper size in this open-edition series is 8.5 x 11 inch, and the overall, matted size is approximately 14 x 18 inches. 

Additionally, we are offering a larger-sized, open-edition group of “pairs” of new poems and accompanying images in a 13 x 19 inch paper size, approximately 15 x 28 inches (horizontal) or 24 x 21 inches (vertical) in their matted configuration. 

The respectively sized prices are $250 and $500.
